The Sigma 105mm f1.4 HSM Art lens, is a solid workhorse of a lens, with design features that firmly place it in line with the needs of portrait photographers. These features include a flattering short-telephoto focal length, which allows tightly-cropped head and shoulder images without you having to get too close to your model, and an ultra-bright f1.4 maximum aperture and its wonderful depth of field control. Typical of the Art range, this lens utilises various high-quality elements, to produce premium images with maximum resolution, and a noticeable absence of common imaging defects.
Although a rugged lens, with dust and moisture-resistance, the Sigma 105mm f1.4 Art is manageable and lightweight, which is due to its construction of Thermally Stable Composite materials. As well as the weather-resistance, which comes from rubber sealing in the mount, this lens has received a protective coating to prevent damage to the surface elements. Super multi-layer coating has also been applied, to provide good levels of contrast and colour accuracy, and a reduction of flare and ghosting. Good for finding accurate focus of a variety of subjects, the 105mm Art lens includes a HyperSonic motor, which performs in a fast and quiet manner.
